Honda's Official Press Release
So here it is... Ahhh, I don't think so. I mean it's nice and all but yikes,
here let me quote a post of our message board the night Honda unveiled this
marvel,
and
I quote: "Just saw what I hope is merely Honda's idea of a joke. This motorcycle would draw great crowds at a show. But so would a messy roadkill. (no pun intended) I'm sure some will like it, but the general consensus sees it as some "cartoon concept" machine. Looks like the fender supports broke and let the fenders drop. I can't imagine that link frontend has the stability of it's predecessor. The engine covers have a lot to be desired, also. And who's idea of ridiculous are those pipes. I near choked on my tears laughing at those. On the other hand, the tank ain't bad. And the wheels are sharp. Bet ya there will be some changes before THIS ONE hits the streets. HONDA... are you serious? Are you listening? It is NOT what the people that love Valkyries are looking for. YES we want the 1800cc motor, and YES we wouldn't mind some styling updates. But JEEZZZ.... come back to reality!! .... This is only a test... had this been an actual Valk that would sell....it
would have been followed by cheers and drools and extreme enthusiasm... this is only a test....

The Honda folks have got to do more focus groups. In general I've only lived
with the concept of this being the next Valk for a few hours now. But like it
said at the bottom of the announcement web this may not exactly represent the
production model. Lets hope it doesn't. I'll do my own customizing thank you.
What will happen is Honda after tonight's initial reaction and the hoofas that
will come from the serious Valkyrie enthusiast, and the motorcycle press, Honda
will use the 1800cc engine and very excellent frame from the Goldwing but will
lower the volume some. This is got to be a street able bike; what we have before
us is a very cool custom, (according to Justin, my son). This is what the bike
should look like when someone like Andy or Justin get done with the Valkyrie
1800 Stanard. HONDA, leave the customizing to us! Fit the bike with a decent
classic rear fender, a truly functional front fork, don't be so dramatic for
crying out loud, let your buyers express themselves. This thing is way over the
top, what you do let Jesse James lose in your design locker.

This won't be the production model. Like I said after reality sets in, the
Motorcycle press unleashes on this and the died in the wool Valkyrie enthusiasts
share their horror, this sucker will be back off a few paces to make it
palatable to the rank and file Valkyrie rider.
All that said, there are the about 10% of folks who emailed on how totally awesome this machine is AND I hope I'm wrong. Been wrong before, hated the Interstate when it came out, now I ride one. But Hoofa, did you see that back fender, yikes.
Let's vote: This machine is...
